Kaamwale Find. Hire. Work.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kaamwale ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use our website and services (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1. Scope

This Policy applies to visitors, registered workers, and registered employers who use Kaamwale to discover or list daily and part-time work opportunities in India.

Kaamwale is operated as a listing and discovery platform. We are not an employer. Information shared between users after contact (such as wage discussions) is handled directly between those users.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account data: Indian mobile number, OTP verification records, account role (worker or employer), and login session identifiers.
  • Profile data: full name, gender, address, profile photo, skills, service pincodes, availability status, and employer pincode where applicable.
  • Usage data: pages visited, search filters, language preference, timestamps, and technical logs (IP address, browser type, device information) for security and analytics.
  • Location-related data: pincode you enter manually, pincode stored in cookies or session, and approximate coordinates if you choose "Use my location" (converted to pincode via a geocoding provider).
  • Communications: messages you send to us for support and records of OTP SMS delivery.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in Section 7.
  • Payment data: if you purchase optional Platform features in the future, payment details are processed by our payment partners; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Information you choose not to provide: some features require a mobile number and profile details; without them you may not register or appear in search results.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and secure your account through mobile OTP verification.
  • Display worker profiles to registered employers and enable search by skill, pincode, and availability.
  • Remember your preferred pincode and language for a better experience.
  • Send service-related SMS messages (such as OTP codes) and respond to support requests.
  • Maintain Platform security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
  • Improve the Platform, troubleshoot errors, and comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal basis

We process personal data under applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), where it applies. Depending on the processing activity, our bases may include:

  • Your consent (for example, when you register, verify your mobile number, or enable browser location).
  • Performance of a contract or steps at your request before entering a contract (providing the Platform services you sign up for).
  • Legitimate interests (securing the Platform, preventing misuse, and improving services), balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligations (responding to lawful requests from authorities where required).

5. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share information with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform, such as SMS delivery partners (e.g. MSG91 or similar providers for OTP messages), cloud hosting providers, and geocoding services (e.g. Google Maps APIs when configured). These providers process data only on our instructions and for the purposes described in this Policy.

6. Profile visibility

Worker profiles may be visible to registered employers who search on the Platform. Depending on product settings, this may include your name, photo, skills, service areas, availability, and mobile number so employers can contact you directly.

Employer profiles are generally not listed publicly in the same way as worker profiles; employer information is used to operate your account and search experience. You control the accuracy of information in your profile through your dashboard.

7. Cookies and storage

We use cookies, session storage, and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you logged in and maintain security (session cookies).
  • Remember your pincode preference (for example, the "kaamwale_pincode" cookie, typically stored for up to 30 days).
  • Remember your language choice and CSRF protection tokens.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • Account and profile data: while your account is active and for a reasonable period after deletion to resolve disputes or meet legal requirements.
  • OTP records: for a limited period to prevent abuse and meet security needs, then deleted or anonymised.
  • Server logs: for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
  • You may request deletion of your account by contacting us; some data may be retained where required by law.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including hashed OTP storage, access controls, and secure connections (HTTPS) where supported.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your mobile device and OTP codes secure and for logging out on shared devices.

10. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, and lodge a grievance with us or the relevant authority.

You can update much of your profile information directly in your dashboard. For other requests (including account deletion), contact us at support@kaamwale.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

11. Children

The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may be communicated through the Platform or by other reasonable means.

Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Platform and may request account deletion.

14. Grievance and contact

For privacy questions, data requests, or grievances under applicable Indian law, contact us via the Contact page or email support@kaamwale.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
